Data controller and contact

What we collect and why

Calculator inputs are processed in your browser, without an application database. Shared calculation links contain input values in their query parameters. Anyone with the link can read them, and hosting services may record request URLs. Do not put confidential information in a shared link.

When the contact form is configured and you submit it, your name, email address, subject and message are sent through Formspree to Kattegat Studio to handle your enquiry. Formspree may process technical and anti-spam data, including IP addresses. We use this information for our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and maintaining the service, or to take steps at your request before entering a contract where applicable. The endpoint in this version is awaiting configuration; until then, use the email address above or the copy-report option.

Hosting and service providers may process IP addresses, browser information, request URLs and security logs to deliver and protect the site. We do not install analytics tools or set application cookies. The site uses advertising technologies as described below and one localStorage preference for currency.

Currency preference

We store your chosen currency code or symbol under buildcost.currency in your browser’s localStorage as a convenience you request. It contains no calculator amounts and is not transmitted by our calculator code. You can change it in the header or remove it by clearing site data in your browser. It remains until replaced or cleared. If storage is unavailable, currency selection still works on the current page. Changing currency never converts amounts.

Google AdSense and consent

We intend to fund this site through Google AdSense. The Google AdSense script is included on these pages. Google and its advertising partners may process device identifiers, IP addresses and browsing information and use cookies for ad personalisation and measurement. We do not claim that advertising scripts are cookie-free.

Advertising consent for visitors in the EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland must be governed by a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP), such as Google Funding Choices. Its banner must offer the applicable choices and a way to revisit or withdraw consent. Consent is the basis for optional advertising storage and personalisation where required; withdrawing it does not affect the lawfulness of prior processing. The CMP integration is not yet configured in this version and must be completed and tested before advertising is launched.

Recipients, fonts and international processing

Contact submissions are handled by Formspree and our email provider. Hosting providers deliver the site; Google supplies fonts and advertising services. Google Fonts requests may disclose your IP address and browser request information to Google. System fonts are used if these requests fail. Providers may process information outside the EU/EEA. Where international transfers occur, appropriate GDPR transfer safeguards are required. The final provider arrangements, transfer mechanisms and retention settings must be confirmed before enabling the contact and advertising integrations; this version does not assert that those arrangements have been verified.

Retention

We retain enquiries only as long as needed to respond and resolve related issues, unless a legal obligation requires longer retention. No calculator inputs are stored in an application database. Currency preferences remain on your device until changed or cleared. Provider logs, contact submissions and advertising data are subject to the relevant provider settings and policies; no fixed provider retention period has been verified for the pending integrations.

Your GDPR rights

Subject to the applicable conditions, you can request access to your personal data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Contact us using the details above; we may need information to verify your identity.
